Jianli Has Officially Become SABIAN’s China General Agent for Marching and Orchestral Cymbals
From October 10 to 13, 2018, Jianli will appear at the China (Shanghai) International Musical Instrument Exhibition as SABIAN’s China General Agent for marching and orchestral cymbals.
From October 10th to 13th, 2018, Jianli will make its debut at the China (Shanghai) International Musical Instrument Exhibition as the general agent of SABIAN marching and classical cymbals in China. SABIAN is a cymbal brand founded by Mr. Robert Zildjian in 1981. The headquarters is located in Canada. It is known as one of the "four major" manufacturers of cymbals along with Zildjian, Meinl and Paiste. SABIAN is a descendant of the Zildjian family, with a 400-year-long pure Turkish family history. It mainly manufactures highly-crafted handmade cymbals. Robert Zildjian believed that "the better the drummer, the more he needs good cymbals". He has obtained a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Iowa.
In the academic year 1992-93, Nick was invited to participate in the course research and development of the Royal Northern College of Music in England, which was the first time in British history. Nick served as the conductor of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland and Japan for two consecutive years, and he was also invited to serve as a judge in many large percussion orchestra competitions in the United States.
From 1996 to 2001, Nick served as the music director and resident composer of the University of Texas Percussion Ensemble, while also serving as the director of the Department of Percussion at the University of Texas.
In 1998, he led the University of Texas Percussion Ensemble to participate in the Werbieye Music Festival in Switzerland, becoming the first percussion ensemble to perform at the festival. From 2002 to 2006, Nick served at the University of California, Berkeley.
Nick has devoted his entire career to percussion, and has since published academic papers in many music journals in the United States and Europe. The two most famous of his works are: The Ultimate Guide to Cymbals.
(The Ultimate Guide to Cymbals w/DVD) and The Multiple-Percussion Book w/CD. In 2006, Nick and Diane published The Musicians Toolbox and Thoughts on Teaching and Learning Music.
In 2005, Nick won the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Arts and Architecture of Pennsylvania State University, and in 2014, he won the Presidential Award from the International Percussion Arts Association.
From October 13 to 18, 2018, Jianli will hold Jianli master classes in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
